Saving Lives Is The Main Aim Of Quebec Suicide Prevention Week

The lives of the people are very precious and suicide is not the solution to one’s problems. Those who are thinking that suicide is the best way to get rid of their life’s problems need some help. It is very important to talk to people about suicide is and why no one should attempt a suicide.

By talking about suicide, there is a chance to save a lot of lives. This is what the Suicide Prevention Week is advocating all through this week. The theme of the program that kick-started on Sunday is “Talking about suicide saves lives”.

Jérôme Gaudreault, executive director of the Association Québécoise de Prévention du suicide asks people to talk when they have suicidal thoughts. If anyone in a family has heard their loved ones talk about suicide, it is important to allow them to express their suicidal thoughts. There is every chance of winning over them by talking to them and telling them about the dangers of suicide.

A total of 1,128 Quebecers took their lives in 2015. This is an alarming figure and it amounts to three people taking their own lives in a day. Jerome wants to prevent such suicidal deaths and they are looking to do it through this awareness campaign.
