Anglos to Fight Against CAQ’s School Board Abolition Plan

The Anglos in Quebec has decided to take the bull by the horns. They are all set to take the Coalition Avenir Québec plan of abolishing the school boards in Quebec to the Supreme Court. The English-speaking community has also got the support of the Parti Quebecois in this regard. The Parti Quebecois says that the CAQ plan would spell disaster and would only end up in legal battles.

VéroniqueHivon, the PQ Family critic, says that the CAQ plan is an open war against the Anglophone community. The Anglos is attached to the institutions. The Quebec English School Board Association (QESBA) also has echoed the same sentiment. They feel that the CAQ is looking to create havoc as the elections are nearing. They are looking to rake up the old issue once again.

The President of QESBA, Jennifer Maccarone, said that they will never give up the minority rights. There is no benefit that CAQ would get by abolishing the Quebec school boards. There should be no politics brought into the student community and classroom. This should be the topmost agenda for any provincial political party. She said that the entire English-speaking community has fought for their rights and will make sure that their voices are heard.
